JohnBROCKBANKDied peacefully at Highfield Hall aged 86, surrounded by family, on April 28 following a long illness. He leaves his wife Janet, children Katrina and Paul, grandsons Aaron, Zayn and Mylo, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins and many nieces and nephews. Johnny moved to Helmshore from Manchester at the end of the war. He was an active member of St James' Haslingden, enjoying camping trips to the Isle of Man with the Church Lad’s Brigade, and playing in the football team. He often shared happy memories from his younger days, walking around the Musbury and Grane countryside. On leaving school he started work at Porritt and Spencer's in Helmshore and met his wife of 57 years, Janet. In his 30s Johnny undertook an apprenticeship with Holgate’s Joinery, and spent the rest of his working life in a job that he loved, as a joiner. In retirement, Johnny was a keen bowler and member of sunnybank social Club. He is fondly remembered as a hardworking, kind and gentle family man and will be greatly missed. A celebration of Johnny’s life will take place on Monday, May 20 at Accrington Crematorium at 2.20pm, followed by an informal gathering at The Whitakers Arms, Burnley road, Accrington. Family flowers only, but donations are welcome to Alzheimer’s research UK. https://www.justgiving. com/page/johnnybrockbank?utm_ term=XBbZ2ryDE
