Welcome to the first of our new monthly series focusing on the amazing collections that friends and family have donated to when visiting funeral-notices.co.uk.

When a loved one passes away, the majority of families choose to raise money in their memory for a charity that was close to their heart, or that maybe helped them during their final days. Not only is this just a nice thing to do during such a sad time, but it creates a lasting legacy for the deceased, as the money will provide the charity with the means to be there for more people in the future.

Here are just a few of the incredible collections that we have paid out in June.

Celia’s family chose two charities to raise money for in her memory. Here at funeral notices we are happy for you to add two, three, four or even five charities to your notices; it’s all about what charities were meaningful to your loved ones.

Macmillan Cancer Support will do whatever it takes to give people affected by cancer the support they need. For them, friends and family of Celia raised £575 in donations, plus Gift Aid of £131.27.

St Oswald's Hospice is a charitable hospice rooted in the North East, providing outstanding, specialist and expert care to adults and children with life-limiting conditions. £835.00 as raised for them in memory of Celia, plus Gift Aid of £197.41.

The family of Emma Jane Evans took advantage of being able to choose multiple charities, and added three different ones to Emma’s online notice; Douglas Macmillan Hospice, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, and Windmills. In total they raised £1,465 across the three charities, plus an extra £109.79 in Gift Aid.

Windmills support children and young people in Staffordshire when someone significant in their lives receives a terminal diagnosis. This bespoke support can run right through the dying process, as well as up to several months after.

Another Staffordshire based charity, Dougie Mac, has been caring for the community since 1973. All their hospice services are free of charge, offering a broad spectrum of specialist palliative and end of life care.

As the UK’s leading cervical cancer charity, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust is there for everyone who needs them, for as long as they need them, and they will not stop until one day we live in a world free from cervical cancer.

Yorkshire Cancer Research is a charity dedicated to funding research so that you and those you love live longer, healthier lives. Brian’s friends and family raised £812 for Yorkshire Cancer Research, and it is thanks to generous donations like this that the charity has been able to fund research and save lives since 1925.

£782 was also raised for the Intensive Care Unit at James Cook University Hospital. The South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust uses the money raised to improve things for visitors, patients and staff alike.

A massive £367.76 extra was raised for these two charities through Gift Aid, at no extra cost to the donor.

On a website that primarily deals with death, we love to share these ‘good news’ stories. It helps to remind us of the outpouring of love that happens when we lose someone close to us, and there is no better way to see that love in action than to take a look at the incredible generosity shown through these donations.
