We’re pretty familiar with our own physical health, and a lot of us are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of looking after our own mental health, but have you ever thought about your emotional health?

With Emotional Health Week coming up soon, now is as good a time as any to start thinking about it!

What is Emotional Health and why is it important?

Think of emotional health like an extension of mental health. It is your ability to cope with and be aware of both positive and negative emotions. Good emotional health provides you with the skills to manage a whole range of emotions, as well as form positive relationships and healthy beliefs.

Good emotional health is a key component in building and sustaining positive relationships with others. An emotionally stable environment is essential for children to develop a positive relationship with their own emotional, mental and physical health.

When is Emotional Health Week 2024 and how can I take part?

This year Emotional Health Week will take place between 19th and 23rd February. If you are on social media, you can join in by using the hashtags #emotionalhealthweek and #emotionalhealth.

Throughout the week, The Centre for Emotional Health will be asking people to get involved with various activities, as well as providing us with resources to use. Here’s what they’ve got planned for the week:
